Behind the Screens: Meet Some of Boldly’s Amazing Mothers

A company’s people are truly their best differentiating factor. They define who you are, what people can expect from you, and form the culture that shapes your future – and that deserves a little celebration. So we’re starting a series called “Behind the Screens” to share a personal look at who comprises the incredible talent that makes things happen at Boldly.

For this post, in honor of Mother’s Day on May 13th, we wanted to give a little kudos to a few of the mothers that make up our team and truly embody our commitment to work/life balance. These amazing women and all of the incredible mothers on our team make it happen day in and day out, not only for our clients, but for their families, and somehow make it all look effortless! Read below for a little insight and inspiration on how (and why) they do it.

Heather S.

1. What’s your favorite part of being a mother?

I have more than one favorite part of being a mother, but my absolute favorite thing is sharing laughter with my two boys. Especially those huge belly laughs where we can barely breathe! Humor is a big part of our family, and some days (those especially stressful days), we wouldn’t get by without it!

2. What’s one lesson from your career experience that you think people just starting out—particularly other moms—would benefit from knowing?

When I first became a mom, I put a huge amount of pressure on myself to do it all. I think an important lesson is to take the time to make choices and learn to say “no.” Set the example for your children of focusing on doing fewer things really well, instead of spreading yourself too thin. It’s amazing what children learn just from observing us.

3. What are you most proud of in your work-life right now?

I’m so happy that I have the flexibility to contribute to my boys’ school life. They are both in elementary school, so it’s still ok for mom to hang around – very soon, I won’t be “cool” anymore! We have an amazing bond, so I’m probably most proud of how secure and independent my boys are. They both know that mom (and dad!) will always be here for them, even when they are taller than us. (yikes!)

We always have fun with the boys’ back-to-school photos. The one above is a from 2 years ago, but still one of my favorites!

1. What’s your favorite part of being a mother?

My favorite part of being a mother is watching my daughter grow into her own person. She definitely has traits from my husband and I, but it’s amazing to watch her own unique characteristics shine through as she gets older!

2. What’s one lesson from your career experience that you think people just starting out—particularly other moms—would benefit from knowing?

Try to not bring your work home, even when you work from home. Making a clear distinction between family time and work time helps keep your mind and heart focused where it should be.

3. What are you most proud of in your work-life right now?

In work, I am proud that I have been able to not only juggle multiple clients, but multiple personalities within one company and meet all of their needs. Currently in our home life, we have embarked on changing our eating habits and am proud that we have stuck to it and I’m learning new, healthier meal options! We all feel better all-around!

1. What’s your favorite part of being a mother?

My absolute favorite part of being a mother is living life through his eyes. Motherhood has given me a new perspective on life and has opened my heart in ways I never knew was possible. Seeing my son experience love, pride, laughter, joy, etc… is the most rewarding gift I could have ever been given.

2. What’s one lesson from your career experience that you think people just starting out—particularly other moms—would benefit from knowing?

I believe transparency is key. I have found it essential to be open about your family priorities, schedules and to practice self-care.

3. What are you most proud of in your work-life right now?

The relationships I have built with the amount of trust we have is something I am most proud of. All of my clients and I have an enormous amount of respect for one another and having that kind of relationship makes “working” fun!

Pauline, E.

1. What’s your favorite part of being a mother?

I love sharing things I love with my kids and seeing their excitement at discovering them.

2. What’s one lesson from your career experience that you think people just starting out—particularly other moms—would benefit from knowing?

When working from home, it’s easy to feel trapped because you only leave the house to take the kids to school or go to the store. Make sure to schedule time for yourself out of the house regularly to break the cycle.

3. What are you most proud of in your work-life right now?

One of my clients told me that his clients are asking him where they can get a “Pauline”. I proud that not only my client is happy with my work but his clients are also impressed.

1. What’s your favorite part of being a mother?

I have two kids- my daughter Belle, 2, and my step-son River, 15. Having a toddler and a teenager is tough but I’m honestly just so happy to be a mother at all! We struggled with infertility for 3 years before having Belle so I try to cherish every moment (hard to remember during tantrums haha). I also LOVE watching them use their imaginations and doing pretend play, bonus if they’re doing it together! Seeing each of their personalities develop is amazing.

2. What’s one lesson from your career experience that you think people just starting out—particularly other moms—would benefit from knowing?

Being a Mom is a tough job, so it gives great perspective when things get tough at work. :) Try to put the same enthusiasm and dedication you have for your children into your day-to-day work duties for success. Mother or not, never assume to know all the answers, it’s okay to ask questions! Try to keep an open mind about what you’re doing each day, the experience will most certainly pay off later.

3. What are you most proud of in your work-life right now?

I have a background in marketing, but before that, I did administrative work. Right now I’m utilizing ALL of that experience! I’m doing marketing activities and administrative duties and I’m happy to be able to keep up the my skills that I’ve acquired to this point in my career. I also love being able to get a mental break from the daily activities of being a mom to a toddler and a teenager, and to be able to receive fulfillment in a professional capacity. It’s great having the flexibility to be able to work AND spend lots of quality time together with my kids too.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there – and thank you for all you do!
