When Should You NOT Apply To Boldly?

We’ve had more than 50,000 applications (yes, you read that right!) to Boldly this year.

At first glance, it might seem like you’d never beat those odds as a candidate… until you realize that the majority of these simply don’t meet our hiring requirements!

Our hiring process is rigorous for a reason — as a premium company, Boldly’s clients are high-level C-suite executives who aren’t just looking to have their next meeting scheduled.

Leaders come to Boldly to partner with someone they can trust to read between the lines, pick up a task and run with it, and “get it” without having to have things spelled out. They depend on the experience of our team as well as the care, attention to detail, aptitude, dynamism, and alignment with their company’s goals and culture.

In this post, we’re going to lay out a few of the common issues we see from candidates to help you decide if you are someone who should not apply to Boldly. Our intention is not to criticize but rather to provide guidance extended with kindness and respect that aims to assist you by offering constructive insights.

Please do not apply if you don’t meet our hiring criteria — you will be turned down and we do not want you to be disappointed!

You Don’t Have 7+ Years Of Experience

To be considered for any of Boldly’s open positions, you’ll need at least 7 years of experience holding an administrative support position such as executive assistant or senior administrative assistant.

If you have not held a traditional executive assistant job title, you must have experience showing that you are well-acquainted with the responsibilities and tasks of an executive assistant including:

  • managing executive calendars
  • coordinating meetings
  • planning travel arrangements
  • overseeing email communication for executives

If you do not have 7+ years of required experience, please do not apply.

Your Administrative Experience Isn’t In An Administrative Role

Almost every job comes with various administrative responsibilities — turning in timesheets, following up on emails, scheduling meetings with colleagues, etc.

While you may have done administrative work, this does not mean you were in an administrative role.

If you have not held the title of executive assistant or something related (eg administrative assistant), please do not apply.

Note: If your years of experience are from a virtual assistant or other strictly administrative role, please make sure your resume is tailored to clearly and simply reflect our hiring requirements.

You Haven’t Managed Calendars/Scheduling For Multiple Execs

Similarly, we aren’t just looking for experience in scheduling or inbox management for a single executive. Our team balances the calendar, inbox, and priorities for multiple executives (sometimes at entirely different companies).

If you do not have this type of experience, please do not apply.

You Don’t Have A LinkedIn Profile

Boldly considers LinkedIn to be the foundation of your professional online presence and we require all candidates who wish to apply to have an up-to-date LinkedIn Profile.

If you do not have a LinkedIn profile and do not wish to create one, please do not apply. All candidates without a LinkedIn profile will be automatically declined.

You Want To Work Outside Normal Business Hours

In order to best serve Boldly’s clients, team members are required to work each day of the week Monday through Friday, for a minimum of 25 hours each week, with availability in both the morning and afternoon during business hours.

Boldly’s team members do not work nights or weekends.

If you cannot commit to the schedule above for a minimum of 25 hours/week, please do not apply.

You’re Looking To Climb The Corporate Ladder

We are looking for applicants whose top priority is to join a company that prioritizes flexibility and promotes a culture of respect, kindness, and transparency. The work our team does is stable, consistent, and rewarding.

If you are at a point in your career where you are still hoping to “climb the corporate ladder” or have a “growth at all costs” mindset, you will not be satisfied at Boldly — truly!

Please take an honest look at your goals and aspirations. If the above doesn’t align with your professional goals, please do not apply.

A Final Note On Applying

We have developed Boldly’s application and review process in a specific way to meet our growing client demand. Our process is all-encompassing — meaning we take into consideration everything from spelling to how you’ve answered various questions.

It’s obvious when candidates have not read our FAQs or done much research into our company culture.

And if a candidate doesn’t care to understand our requirements, how can we be confident that they’ll care to understand the specific needs of our clients?

We know our hiring process is rigorous and that Boldly may not be the best fit for everyone. We typically have 2-3 remote executive assistants join our team each month and stay with us for years. In fact, we have Boldly team members who have supported the same Boldly client for 9 years!

If you meet our hiring requirements, have read through our career pages, and are looking for your next move, we’d love to hear from you.
